Threaded bolt and nut generator
Type the metric size, pitch and length. The generator builds a real helical thread in your browser, M3 to M24, and exports it as STL for printing or STEP for CAD.
Builds in your browser. The CAD engine downloads once (about 60 MB), then every part is local.
What to put in the prompt
- Give the size as Mx: M3, M6, M8, M12. Add the length after an x: M8 x 50.
- For nuts give the across-flats size and height: 13mm across flats, 6.5mm tall.
- For a printed fit, ask for 0.2 to 0.3mm of clearance, or print slightly oversize and test.
- Coarse pitch is the default. Say fine pitch 1.0 if you need it.
- Internal threads print best with the hole vertical; external threads print best standing up.

Hollow box with M3 pilot holes
200 mm wide 40 mm deep 40 mm high deep hollow box with closed top and rounded corners. 5 mm corner radius. hollow on bottom. 5 mm wall. m3 pilot holes on all 4 corners. 5 mm recessed lip on bottom.
Plate with M3 centre thread
We need the plate 60 mm length and 30 width and 3 mm thickness and make the m3 thread in center of the plate
M8 x 50 hex head bolt
Hex head bolt M8 x 50mm, metric coarse thread pitch 1.25mm, head across flats 13mm, head height 5.3mm, DIN 931
Frequently asked questions
Which thread sizes does it support?
Real helical threads from M3 to M24, with fine pitches on request. Smaller than M3 does not print well. Above M24 the part builds at full size, but the thread is made as rings at the right pitch, so it looks right and won't screw onto a real nut.
Will a printed bolt fit a real nut?
Usually, after a light clean-up. Printed threads run slightly oversize, so ask for 0.2mm clearance or test a short sample first.
Is it a real helical thread or a stack of rings?
A real helix up to M24, built on the OpenCascade kernel. Above M24 it is rings, and the generator tells you so. STEP export keeps the exact geometry.
